Boston Massachusetts for Summer Vacation

Heading to Boston today for a 7 day, six night adult only Summer vacation.  How did I choose Boston?  First, since I had recently returned from a Colorado trip with 5 kids, I wanted to pick a place that was not in the mountains, that I had never visited before as a tourist, that had the ocean, and was affordable.

After searching many of the travel sites, I settled on Travelocity’s vacation packages as having the best deals for me.  I narrowed my search to Boston, Vegas (I know, there is no ocean there but, hey, it’s Vegas), San Diego, San Francisco, or Miami.  The prices too Vegas were the best.  I could fly to Vegas and stay at the Bellagio for half the price of any other destination.  Of course, I likely would have easily lost more than my cost savings at the first craps table that I sauntered to…so Vegas was out.  Miami was super cheap as well…because Miami in July is after all…Hades warmed over.  So, it was California or Boston.  For me, it came down to the 4th of July holiday.  Who does the 4th better than the city of the Boston Tea Party, Paul Revere, ultimately the place that started the American Revolution.  So, Boston it is.

It’s just me and my girlfriend Danielle…no kids.  We are leaving from Memphis today, flying American Airlines arriving in Boston and staying at the Kimpton Marlowe hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
